such a well-made video and yet the most replayed part is Mika slapping her ass

There's definitely a place for accessibility in all games, but if you don't also reward people for doing it "the hard way" then you're killing that spectacle.
Nobody wants to watch Musou button mashing for infinite aerial combos. Spectators know when a performer is in "the zone" and if those moments aren't enabled with high skill ceiling options, it's not a good game to watch.

    11:00 aged like milk

The success of Street Fighter 6 is proving a lot of things about this video wrong lmao.

You can make parries more accessible while still allowing for high level players to shine by doing great feats of skill. Parry is one button hold input now, but that doesn't make Kakeru's 32 perfect parries in Gamesrs8 final any less impressive. You can keep the more lenient linking system from SF5, and high level combos are still rewarding players for playing more skillfully and learning harder links, definitely a better system than SF4 P-Linking which basically meant you have to do an exploit to do combos. It wasn't even a matter of more skill.

You can have one button DPs and still have a highly competitive and fun to watch Street Fighter.

  11. より:

Hard disagree. Game should not soley cater to the competitive crowd thats how we got overwatch 2s shitty balancing

"(…) but I would never want one-button shoryukens in Street Fighter." – circa pre-Modern era

This video needs a follow up on the new skill gap issue we have right now.

Competitive fighting games are a joke now. Capcom can make any game they want but we need to be honest with ourselves, you cannot be a pro at a game that doesn't respect the time you put in them with an audience that doesn't care about fair competition. Modern controls, random unchecked peripherals and intentional scrubby design just cannot be respected. Any other sport would not allow this foolishness to be in a competitive scene and other video game communities that have a pro scene like Counter Strike wouldn't stand to see developers bring in changes that throw their years of hardwork to the craft away for "accessibility". The FGC has no balls, it doesn't even exist anymore really, FGC today is filled with brats who wouldn't know what real skill is if slapped them across the head. Constantly referencing Moment 37 yet continue to support products that will never give them the same opportunity to push the envelope further.

No offense to Gerald but even he doesn't believe his own words anymore since he made this video as he has kept quiet about SF6, in some ways defend critics of its design and is using a hitbox controller. He can like whatever he wants but it's another example of a desperate Street Fighter fan who has been wanting anything that is positive because of how badly Capcom ruined the franchises legacy with 5. I get it when a game that actually functions as a complete product and its got the brand of your favourite series, it's scary to point out that it still isn't what you really want because you're scared that twitter is going to send a hate mob but it's sad how brutally honest everyone was with 5 but not with 6 where there is barely a difference with 5 when you really look at it. I mean really look at it for example buffer inputs just like 5 so you can spam moves without any regard for timing, massive combo damage for the smallest effort and it actually punishes you to make a complex combo as the damage scaling drops off a cliff after 4 hits, supers are just combo filler as there's nothing super about them anymore. Drive Rush deletes inputs and creates a never ending flowchart for nearly every character in the game. Modern controls just pisses all over any work you put in to actually try to show any effort put into the game.

It's getting worse and worse, SF7 is just gonna eventually play like a card game where you don't do anything to test dexterity, you just use your green slimer card to counter their green slimer, oh watch out you activated my trap card! Now react to this Drive Impact! Characters don't mean anything anymore as each new entry is constantly making them similar in terms of normals and hurt box/hit box, nothing has a unique interaction, everything is so preplanned.

5:30 Interesting, skill really gets trivialized in a way, if you dont accept youre playing a different game now. But the players will adapt and the better players will start winning more again, even things like jan ken po can be predicted.

5:50 "When everyone is super…" it really brings the question "is me or the character the responsible?", Ive read a phrase that summons perfectly "even the worst in world is unbeatable with Omega Rugal".

Guy was goated to put the song name

6:35 As a pro, puts your career at risk and really makes you nervous

  16. より:

He didn’t know modern controls existed

"I wouldn't want 1 button shryukens in street fighter"

I have news for you bro…

  18. より:

11:01, yeah. Now look at the latest install ment

"I would never want 1 button specials in SF."

Well you probably wont be thrilled with how RIOT is making their new League Of Legends fighting game, lol.

(No hate toward RIOT. I think Project L looks amazing, actually. Really damn good game that's also free to play. Just waiting on a release date.)

Call of duty biggest mistakes were adding tons of microtransanctions and 3 consecutive jetpack games

  22. より:

We got 2 majors for SF6 now both winners using Classic I just wanna to see the next video.

  23. より:

11:01 yikes, bro. cringe. they're trying to make sf6 more accessible.

  24. より:

Richard Garfield is genuinely one of the most brilliant game designers and theorists of all time it’s so cool to see him in a video about fighting games!

  25. より:

And here we are 6 years later, waiting to see what you think about SFVI.

  26. より:

You really think corporate people are going to want to cater to old fans who give them the same money no matter what? They want more money from new fans to them its profit over everything and thats that.
